Nepal Streamlines Arrival Process With Full ETA Rollout
Travelers eligible for Nepal's visa-on-arrival program can now complete pre-travel registration through the country's Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system, which became fully operational on 17 August 2026.
Although not required, securing an ETA before departure can help reduce processing time at the border, as the authorization is converted into a visa upon arrival.
The visa-on-arrival route continues to support stays of up to 90 days for tourism and selected business visitor activities, such as attending meetings, conferences, negotiations and site visits. Travelers must not undertake employment or other productive work while in Nepal.
This change is expected to make entry procedures more efficient for business travelers and tourists alike.
