New Zealand Expands Visa Options for Business Travelers

New Zealand has introduced changes to its visa rules, expanding the activities business visitors can undertake and clarifying options for specialist services workers.

The Business Visitor Visa now covers additional activities, including informal training involving observation and theoretical instruction, certain business transactions carried out by individuals in management or financial services roles, and participation in tourism conventions by eligible travel professionals.

New Zealand has also clarified and expanded the Specific Purpose Work Visa pathway for Contractual Service Suppliers and Independent Professionals. Applicants will need to meet requirements relating to areas including qualifications, work experience, service contracts and supporting documentation.

Companies sending employees or specialists to New Zealand should review the activities they will undertake before travel and confirm the appropriate visa route.
