Venezuela Introduces Electronic Visa System for Tourists and Business Travelers
The Venezuelan government has introduced an electronic system for tourist and business visa applications, replacing the previous consular-based process.
Foreign nationals must now apply online, and approved visas are issued electronically and sent directly to the applicant’s email address. Travelers are required to print the visa and present it to border officials upon entry to Venezuela, eliminating the need for an in-person appointment or a physical visa stamp in the passport.
Processing times have been significantly reduced, with electronic tourist and business visas now expected to be processed in approximately 15 days, compared with around six weeks under the former system.
Although the official fee has not yet been confirmed, the cost is expected to be approximately USD 180, up from the previous fee of USD 60.
Other visa conditions remain unchanged. Tourist and business visas continue to be issued as multiple-entry visas with a validity of one year, and eligibility requirements remain the same.
Overall, the new system simplifies the application process, improves accessibility for foreign nationals, and forms part of broader efforts to modernize and streamline government administrative procedures through digitalization.
